How’d you get into education? I’ve been teaching informally as a tutor, summer school counselor, and even a choreographer for almost 10 years. After college, I planned to study law and practice in educational policy. I decided I wanted more formal experience working with the very people I would one day defend. I want to know what makes the educational system work, and what doesn’t so that I can best serve it in the future either as a teacher, a politician, a lawyer, or whatever profession this experience leads me to.
What is your purpose? My vision is Teach For America’s vision that, “One day, all children in this nation will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education.”
Anything else you’d like to add? Being a teacher is MUCH harder than you think!
